Living costs in the Third World have gone up tremendously in the last two years. As energy costs spiraled ever higher, the cost of food quickly followed. Worse, costs have not fallen in Africa as they have in America. Gasoline has dropped less than 20 percent from its peak, while Americans have seen gas prices tumble as much as 60 or 70 percent. Add to that the declining value of the dollar (which improved some in late 2008) and a rent increase for our home Jan. 1 and you can see that we have been hit very hard financially.
Now comes a worldwide financial meltdown that has virtually frozen non-discretionary spending. Charities and religious organizations around the world report a sharp decline in giving.
Unless new funds arrive in the next 90 days, we risk losing these three children.
Florah has lived with us since Christmas Eve, 2004. We brought Moses into our home when he was just an infant in January of 2007. He knows no other Mom and Dad. His sister Zipporah (Zippy, we call her) joined shortly thereafter when she was just three.
Imagine the emotional blow to these children if they have to leave our home. Today they know they are loved and they know they are safe. What will the next home hold for them? Will they get an education? Will they be protected from rape and abuse? Will they have adequte housing, food, clothing and protection from disease?
We have no resources except prayer.
We sold our home and car in America and used those funds to pay for adoption and other expenses related to the children. Many months out of the year our monthly support does not cover our basic expenses. Over the last three years we have emptied our savings account, paying for attorney fees, court fees, filing fees, inspections costs, medical exams, and other expenses.
We have given our lives to serve God in Kenya, and this is the assignment He has given us. Our only option is to ask the Lord to move in the hearts of those who receive this message. Will you prayerfully consider coming alongside us today? And will you also share this web site and our videos with your friends and family?
Below are links for more information about us and the children, including how you can contribute. We are covered by a non-profit organization which means all donations are tax-deductible.
Thank you for blessing us and blessing Florah, Zipporah and Moses!
